Howl's Moving Castle Review

This movie is incredibly awesome!  But, I have to say that it does have its own problems. For me it's mainly the story.  I can also say that I do have some problems with the mythology of the film. First, let me explain myself!  This movie is visually gorgeous.  I mean all of Miyazaki's films are visually stunning.  I love how much work was done to put so much detail into every scene.
There are spoilers here! Kind of. Here's the plot,  Sophie, an eighteen-year old girl, meets the wizard Howl.  Howl is voiced by Christian Bale.  That right there is so awesome.  She is not very confident, but she seems pretty to me.  An evil witch casts a spell on her, and she is turned into an old women.  She goes to the Land of the Waste to find Howl, so that she can break the curse.

I do suggest that you all watch the movie, but here's my opinion.  The story seems kind of bumpy.  I do like the romance that builds between Howl and Sophie.  Mind you she transitions between a young woman and an old woman.  I like how Miyazaki actually make his character have flaws.  They are not sugary characters who can do no wrong.  Sophie has very low self-esteem, and she does not live for herself.  It's only when she starts to believe in herself does she start to become young again.

That seems to be a big theme in Miyazaki's movies particular with "Kiki's Delivery Service."  When she begins to have low her confidence, she loses her ability to fly her broom; however, she had always low self-esteem from the beginning, but it really diminishes when she goes away from home to complete her training as a witch.  She gains her magic back when she believes in herself again.  The character of Howl is very selfish, cowardly, and he is very focused on how he looks.  He can be kind at times, and he does start to fall in love with Sophie.  Because of this, he does not run away from his problems anymore.

My problem with the movie is that it left me with a lot of questions at the end.  Miyazaki seemed to have used the theme of war.  The kingdoms that are fighting in the film begin to draft witches and wizards.  I had questions such as "why are they fighting?", "what caused the war?", "how do the citizens feel about wizards and witches being used in the war?".  I do like how the movie saw how war can bring out the worst in everyone.  In the film, the wizards transform into monstrous flying monsters.  If they stay in that form for a long time, they lose their human consciousness.

Howl begins to lose his humanity, because he has two aliases when he's fighting the war.  He wants to be free and do whatever he wants with his magic.   I was really confused on how the curse worked during the film.  Sometimes she was young, and other times she was old.  When she was asleep, she would revert back into her young self.  I wasn't even sure is the curse was lifted at the end.  Sophie is young again, but I wasn't sure if she had broken the curse.  She is seen flying with Howl in "his castle," and they kiss.  Although I had a few question, the film was very good.  I suggest that you all watch it.

Hey you guys should watch this clip.  It's so hilarious!  Christian Bale is using his Batman voice in this scene.  I swear that Christopher Nolan watched this film and said, "THAT'S BATMAN!!"  Skip to 0:54 and you'll see what I am talking about.

Vlog #1 Breaking Dawn Part 2

Man this movie sucked balls!  Oh my God!

This vlog was done on Sunday so excuse me if I missed anything that you thought should have been included.  I went to see it last Saturday.  Let's just say it's an experience I will never forget.

Oh, and my birthday was last Friday.  I turned 19 years old!!  This is my second birthday that I've celebrated on this blog.  I feel so young since I just turned 19 and I'm in my sophomore year of college. Everyone else is turning 20, and sometimes I just feel so left out.  I just have to get over it, you know.

Anyway, I happy that I got to see another year, and I hope there will be more.  I was able to vent my frustrations on this movie, and by god it sucked!

Hope you enjoy my first vlog!  Here goes nothing!

Long Time No See!

Hey guys,

It's been a very long time since I have written an entry on here.  And there are of course the people out there who said that I wouldn't get a review out by my own deadline.  And unfortunately, they were right about that.  Let me explain...

For all of my fellow bloggers out there who are in college, you know how busy we can get.  Midterms are hell, and papers are abominations from hell.  I have had so many things going on.  So I have come to a realization.  I cannot do video reviews at this moment in time.  I have so many things on my plate right now that I am not going to lie to you all and say that I will end up doing them.  It's not fair to you all and it is certainly not fair to myself.  I guess you're asking me, "So what exactly can you do Media Rant Reviewer?"  Here is my proposal.  I will still continue to regularly review things on my blog (written).  However, I can do vlogs as well.  I find that vlogs are so much easier to do.  I feel that I am not restricted by trying to fit all my opinions in a video review.  I can be free and say what I want.  This is what I would like to do most of all.

So from now on, I will do vlogs.  I have decided whether they will be weekly or bi-weekly.  I think I can do weekly no problem.  I am still working on my website.  It's almost done, and it will be used to host my YouTube vlogs.  The vlogs will also go up on here and Blip.tv.  I feel a little better about this.  This plan should work!  (I hope.)

One Year Anniversary

Wow, I can't believe that it has been one year since I started writing this blog.  My first blog was written October 2, 2011.  My rant about "The Little Mermaid 2," is always fun to reminiscence about.  I still can't freaking stand that movie!

I am very excited to know that I lasted a whole year on Blogger.  Thank you to everyone who had the patience to read through my blog.  I hope that I can have many more with you guys.  Now back to blogging!

So I have been very busy with college, and I have not had a lot of time to work on my new site on Wix.  I am getting there though.  I have been able to keep up with the many Wiki pages that I am a part of.  I am so addicted to the Young Justice Wikia page.  Here's the link if you guys want to check it out.  It is really cool.
http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Young_Justice_Wiki

I have been able to take a course at school, about video game reviewing.  When I heard that there was a class about reviewing video games, I signed up right away.  I am learning some much from this class.  Not only is that class helping me with critiquing video games, it's helping me to be able to critique films and TV shows a lot better.  I feel like this class  its making me a better internet reviewer.

I have been able to make a final schedule of reviews that I am going to do.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to film the "Never Cry Werewolf" last month.  So I have decided to make it apart of my Halloween special.  I will have a couple of reviews for the month of October. Yeah, I know what you're saying. "You've been telling us that you would be doing a  review forever."  I am serious!  Haha, kinda.  No I'm just kidding.  I am serious this time.  I am going to do this.

October:
Never Cry Werewolf
Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes

November:
Skydancers TV show (I quiver at the thought of this show)

December:
I'll leave that up to you guys!
For December, I'll see if anyone will be willing respond to a poll.  I'll have a list of films that you guys can choose from. starting mid-November.  (If anyone wants to vote.)  I just thought it would give some interaction between us bloggers.  Tell me what you guys think about it.  The choices that will be put up will depend on if I can get the films or TV show.

February:
Pride and Prejudice (guilty pleasure guys!)

Thanks again for a wonderful year and I hope I'll have many more.  One more thing before I go.  YOUNG JUSTICE IS BACK!! OH YEAH BABY!!  :)

New Show and Young Justice Excitement

Hey Guys!  Long time no see.  It been a month since I have typed something up here on the blog.  School has bombarded with stuff, so I haven't been able to get on here in a while.  Luckily, I wrote a script for a movie review already (before school started).  So I will probably film the review this weekend or next (most likely next weekend).  I'm excited to do this, because it has been such a hassle for me to film these reviews.  However, that what makes it so much fun.  It's the challenge of making the review that I love the most.  I will use iMovie for the first reveiw (sorry guys I can't afford Final Cut Pro), but later ones will be done with Final Cut Express (it's a little more within the realms of my budget).  I'm excited to start using that.  Here's a "more"recent list of reviews that I'll do.

September: "Never Cry Werewolf"
October ("Halloween"): Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes
November:  Thumbelina (Don Bluth)
December: The Nutcracker Prince

February: Pride and Prejudice (hehe)

In other news, YOUNG JUSTICE IS BACK!  That's right people "Young Justice" is back September 29 9am central time.  I am so happy to see my favorite superhero in the world, Wonder Girl (I love you to Wonder Woman).  I'm also trying to see if I can make it to Anime Milwaukee.  If any of you guys are in the Midwest, I say come to Anime Milwaukee.  It's February 15th-17th.  I believe it's Wisconsin's largest anime convention.  The website link is right here: http://www.animemilwaukee.com/.  It's also where the Nostalgia Critic did his 200th episode special of the film, "Ponyo."  That's pretty awesome.  Anyway, that's it for now.

Upcoming Reviews and MUCH MORE!

Hey Guys,

It's been a long three weeks, and I have missed checking up on my blog.  I have been extremely busy with trying to set some personal affairs in order that I have not had time to write on here.  I miss checking up on the blogs that I follow and seeing what others are writing.  I was very happy to see that the Patchwork Nerd has already received 2,000 page views.  Congrats to you girl!  I wish you 2,000 more.  I have been catching up on some reading (for pleasure), and I have started reading 1984, by George Orwell.  This suspense thriller is about a negative utopia where the citizens are under constant surveillance by who else, Big Brother.  Well, I don't need to tell you what the book is about, because it's one of the most famous literary works in history.  My opinion of the book:  READ IT!  I am only on page 38 right now, but it's already captivating and intriguing in every way.

Alright, back to business!  I also have time to think about an annual schedule for reviews.  I will most likely do a monthly thing, but I will try for a biweekly show.  I need time to write and get others who want to be in the reviews with me (not to mention editing the thing).  For the month of September, I don't have a theme to use, so I'll just pick one or two films or TV shows.  Here is a preliminary schedule that I have planned out:

September 2012:
1) Barney's Great Adventure
2)Tentacolino (if I can squeeze it in)

October 2012: Halloween Theme
1) Never Cry Werewolf (yes, I'm redoing it)
2) Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes
3) Are You Afraid of the Dark? (only if I can do it and if not there's always next year)

November 2012:
1) So Weird
2) As Told By Ginger

December 2012: of course, Christmas Theme
1) The Nutcracker Prince

If you have any suggestions please let me know!  And yes,  I will actually make the reviews this time.  Here's to being the Media Rant Reviewer!  I'm so used to the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I had to backspace so many times to correct myself, hehe!  Here's a picture that I just drew today!  I hope that you guys like it!

NEW BLOG TITLE

Hey guys,

As I wrote in my Wonder Woman blog, I decided to change my name from the Movie Rant Reviewer to the Media Rant Reviewer.  I'm just trying to be more original on here.  The rest of the information is listed at the bottom the Wonder Woman blog.  Those who follow me can still read the blog, but I couldn't changed the url.  The blog would appear with the new website name, so I had to keep it the same.

However, my blip.tv url is http://blip.tv/mediarantreviewer.

My upcoming website url is now http://aliciamovierantblogg.wix.com/amediarantreviewer#!home/mainPage.

I also changed my tagline too, but everything else is still the same though, so there's no worries.

Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham

I am totally nerding out today!  So after a ten year search, I finally got a copy of the comic book "Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham."  This comic book is a collection of a four-part series featuring more than 15 prominent DC characters, including my favorite, Wonder Girl.  It was the first time that I ever laid eyes on her, and I fell in love with the character ever since.  The first time that I read the book was when I was eight years old at summer camp.  I would read it every day, because I loved it that much.  The comic was written in the early 2000's by Phil Jimenez, J.M. DeMatteis, and Andy Lanning.  Unfortunately, I was not able to keep the comic, because it belonged to camp.  I was so furious!

Ten years later, I now hold it in my hands!  YEESSS!!

It's about the children of the god of War, Ares, taking over the bodies of the most lethal criminals in Arkham Asylum.  The god of terror, Demios, takes over the body of the Joker (The Terror King of Gotham).  The goddess of discord, Eris, possesses Poison Ivy (who can control any man, except Batman, with just a whoosh of her phermones), and the god of fear, Phobos, possesses Scarecrow (Master of Fear in Gotham).  These gods desire to make Gotham into the new kingdom for Ares.

"Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham" is such an interesting comic book, and I suggest anyone who loves Wonder Woman and Batman to check it out.  I think that the comic itself is a great insight into what are the true morals of these characters.  The story questions what is the true reason why we as humans seek religion.  Is it for faith or is it our desire to fill a void in our soul?  Do we all seek to be part of a divine entity?  The story is not pushing the reader into choosing a religion, but really it is trying to make us question what is our own reason for putting our faith into certain things.

***SPOILER***

Phobos uses Batman faith in fear to possess him, and Phobos becomes more powerful than ever.  Fear is the tool that Batman uses to fight crime in Gotham.  It is this tool, that helps him avenge the public; it's to inflict the same fear and pain onto the criminals that they inflict on innocent people.  However, Wonder Woman comes to rescue him.  She helps him see that he is a compassionate person who doesn't needs to put his faith in completely fear.  It is hope that trumps fear.  It's the one thing that Batman and her have.  The hope that one day crime and inequality will end.

I know that this ending sounds cheesy, but it was nice to see that side of Batman.  Batman does not believe in gods.  Let's clarify this fact.  From what I read, I believe that he does not believe in the power that these gods say that have.  He questions the fact that how could a god allow his parents to be murdered right in front of him.  How could a god allow people like the Joker and Scarecrow to continue to terrorize and kill innocent people? I like seeing heroes like Batman have weaknesses.  It makes him more realistic, and it makes the reader be able to relate to him more.  That what makes him a far more better superhero than Superman will ever be in my opinion.   I love this comic, and everything that is associated with it.  If you are lucky enough to find it, buy it at once.

UPDATE:  I am deciding to change my name from Movie Rant Reviewer to Media Rant Reviewer.  I really don't want to just stick to reviewing movies, and I feel that media can be related to movies, TV shows, comic books, games, books, etc.  So that's that!  Thanks again for reading.  I'm going to have to change my tagline too (it's too Nostalgia Critic-like).  Hehe!

Young Justice and News

Hey guys,

I think that it's been two weeks since my last blog.  Well, I'm back, and it's best that I start off the biggest TV show that has hit the fandom community.  "YOUNG JUSTICE"!!!  Yeah, I know that I had a fan-gasm when Wonder Girl appeared on the show.  C'mon guys,  bear with me!  This is the very first time that she has ever appeared on TV.  I have been waiting like ten years for this moment, and I will continue to relish it. This year at Comic-Con, they announced that Static Shock will appear in the show.  HELL YEAH BABY!!  I wonder if he will be voiced by Phil LaMarr again.  DeathStroke (aka Slade in Teen Titans) and Black Beetle will be in the show as well.  The trailer for the new episodes is SPECTACULAR!!  I can't wait for the hiatus to be over.  I'm so psyched for it.  It seems that every show that Greg Weisman touches turns to gold.  He has worked on "Gargoyles", "The Spectacular Spiderman", and now "Young Justice."

One thing that I have to say to the writers.  Put Superboy and Wonder Girl together!  You know what, put her with Static then.  I hate all these "shippers" who are promoting the Blue Bettle/Wonder Girl relationship.  I hate the term "shipping."  It's OVERRATED, and it will probably fade out by the end of this year.  It needs to stop.

NEWS:  I have been updating my website recently, and I have been vigorously working on scripts for movie and TV reviews coming August/September.  I will do my best with each review.  Right now I am a lot more familiar with the audiovisual equipment and the editing software.  In other words, I know what I am doing now, and I can make better quality video reviews.  Thanks to all of you who read my blog, leave comments, and watch that one video that I have on YouTube.  I appreciate you all.  Thank you.

Enjoy this picture of Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" and my depiction of a dark version of Wonder Girl that I drew a couple of weeks ago.

NEW WEBSITE

Hey Guys,

I have a new website out.  So I will be shutting down my website of yola.com.  Here is the link to the new site.  Mind you the site is not finished yet, but I want to get a head start for my premiere of episode coming out late-August early September.  I am currently writing potential scripts for me to do later this year.  I have a Halloween special in mind for the whole month of October.  My first review will have to be special.  Any suggestions?  Let me know, and check out my site.

Can't wait to also see the new Spiderman and Batman movie coming out this summer!  YAY!!  :)

Here the screen shot, and link to the site.

STUMPED! What Should I Do?

Hey guys,

Right now I am completely stuck in thought limbo, and I don't know what I should.  I've going back and forth deciding where I would like my video reviews to go.  I thought about doing the Goosebumps review, but now I feel like just saving it until October/Halloween.  I would like to do a Halloween themed show for the whole month of October (with Goosebumps being the theme).  Right now I am not in an environment where I have space to do these reviews.  So right now I am stuck doing reviews on my blog.  I haven't done one in a while anyway.  That Breaking Dawn blog took a lot out of me.  I really want to do this.

That's why I have decided to revamp the review block that I have on blip.tv and YouTube.  Starting in late August, I will be in a new location.  I will have enough space to film my reviews, and I will have people to help me write scripts and edit the footage.

http://www.movierantreviewer.yolasite.com/

Please let me any comments, questions, or suggestions on my blog!  I will be happy to read them.  Check out my revamped website to on Yola to see a list of things that I want to review!  I can't say thank you enough to those of you who read my blog thanks!

Oh, and The PatchWork Nerd has put on her blog that she has over 1000 page views.  We have to congratulate her in her accomplishment.  It may not seem much, but we bloggers love that people read what we type. It means so much to us that you all care about what we have to say.  Thank you.  Congrats The PatchWork Nerd.  I wish you a 1000 more page views in the future!

So there you go.  Coming late August the new version of the Movie Rant Reviewer will be coming!  :)

I also got some cool stuff on my deviantArt page.  Check it out!

Twilight: Breaking Dawn IS Hazardous for Your Health

HAHA!  I knew this shit could make you die!  I just found out some crazy information right now.  I was searching some information for Breaking Dawn on Wikipedia to include in the upcoming blog.  On the Breaking Dawn page, I found that people were having seizures while watching it.  It was hard to believe, so I did more research (sorry people, Wikipedia is not a 100% trustworthy site).  So I found this video on CBS news (YouTube), and I hope you guys can believe me now.  This movie is HAZARDOUS for you health!

DO NOT GO AND WATCH TWILIGHT!!  YOU WILL HAVE A SEIZURE AND DIE!!

Here that picture from last week, if you guys enjoy did (I made the alterations with Edward's head; it's too bad that I couldn't add any sparkles to it).

Breaking Dawn Part 1 Rant

I WILL HAVE TO DO A VLOG FOR THIS ONE!

THIS MOVIE IS ATROCIOUS!  A-T-R-O-C-I-O-U-S!!!!

Yeah, I know that I'm late on this bandwagon, but give me a break.  I borrowed it from my friend.  No way in hell was I going to buy the movie!  Please!

I can't believe that humanity is even capable of of producing such a disgusting product.  I really can't believe that these movies keep getting worse.  I am not proud of this, but I did read all of the books.  You know how they say that curiosity killed the cat.  Well, I'm sure that the Twilight saga has killed many of my brain cells!  The last book Breaking Dawn, was not even suppose to exist, but the fans wanted it.  So Stephenie Meyers pulled this story out of her ass, and we got the this piece of crap.  There is no excuse why this book had to be put into two-part (total rip-off of Harry Potter by the way).  Harry Potter has way more material than any four of these fucking books would ever have put together (times four).

(Enjoy this picture of Bruce Timm's depiction of Buffy the Vampire slayer.  I try to imagine that the vampire is Edward.)

Stephenie Meyers in no way possible can even compare to J.K. Rowling.  J.K. Rowling is an outstanding writer who takes her craft seriously.  Each character in the Harry Potter books is cradled like a new born baby.  In the book the characters grow up along with the reader.  They mature and learn from their mistakes.  They have to take responsibility for their actions.  Harry has to in the end sacrifice himself to give the others a fighting chance against Voldemort and the Death Eaters.  This is a hero.  A person who gives up their most precious treasure (their life) to save others.  These characters were very likeable and the readers could relate to them.  They had REAL problems to deal.

I, in no way, relate to this psychopathic bitch, Bella Swan.  She is a selfish, needy, male-dependent, non-feminist (in the highest meaning) wench who deserves to be burned at the stake.  All she does is stand around and let glittering pussy vampires and wimpy werewolf carry her around.  I believe that she is sociopathic.  She doesn't care about consequences, she uses people to get what she wants, and she has no emotions towards anything.  DOES SHE EVEN GO TO SCHOOL?!  All we ever see her doing is being a cock tease and letting muscle boys carry her around. The characters and story are so stupid, but my vlog will go into depth for why I hate this series so much.

I don't want to go on and on for why I hate these parasites called characters.  I have to express my opinions in the vlog.  Thanks for reading my rant!

I'm the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I rant about it because no one will.

UPDATE:  I wanted to let you all know that I deleted my Ratatoing video review from YouTube and my Blip.tv page.  Personally, I did not feel that it, in any way, demonstrated my true feelings toward the film. I know that I am more than capable of producing better work than that, and I will definitely do so in the future.  And yes, I'm still working on the Goosebumps review!

Response to Goosebumps Blog, Deviant Art, and More!!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know about what's been going on.  I have been trying to get this Goosebumps things up and rolling, but a certain thing called "studying for college finals" has been getting in my way.  I have recently bought a tripod, and I am very eager to use it.  It will be short, but I hope it will be good too!

I have been posting pictures up on my Deviant Art page, and I hope that you all will enjoy them.  Here is the link for my page: anwalker2.deviantart.com.  I know that I have been terrible with keeping up with my promises for reviews, and I feel horrible about it.  At this time, I don't know what I can do about it.  However, I will be in a different location starting in August, and I will have more opportunities to film stuff for video reviews and VLOGS.

Yes, I have decided to do vlogs (as if enough people aren't already doing it).  Whatever!  I'm doing it anyway.  I also will try to team up with my friend who is a film major this summer and make some reviews as well.  I really appreciate everyone who comes to my blog and reads what I have to say.  I want to say THANK YOU.  I am proud to say that right now I have a total of 1066 page views for my blog.  YAY!

Here's a sample of my drawings!  I hope you guys like it!  One of  these days, I will draw Wonder Girl!  I'm thinking about do my own cover art for reviews (and also with a friend too)!

Goosebumps Blog Rant (well sort of)

Hey Guys,

Remember Goosebumps!  This series of books was created by world renowned author R.L. Stine, and he also created the Fear Street series.  This man is the GOD of children horror books.  I won't say that all the books in the series were perfect, but they did have a strong effect on helping kids read more.  That was the main goal of R.L. Stine.  To get kids to continously read.  Well, Mr. Stine, that's exactly what you did to kids in the 1990s.  I remember seeing these books everywhere in the library and bookstore.  The covers of the book were created by Tim Jacobus. The one that scared me the most was the Haunted Mask.  That thing scared me the most.  I hated any time that saw that thing.  Basically if you were a kid around that time, you know (or had some sort of idea) of what Goosebumps was.

The first Goosebumps book was published in 1992, and it was called "Welcome to Dead House."  The book itself was interesting.  It was about a family would moves into a town called Dark Falls.  Seriously, would you move into a town called Dark Falls?!  Anyways, it turns out the people of town are zombies and they need human blood to survive (turning the family into zombies as well).  Apparently, they are vampire zombies, because sunlight can kill them.  I'd go Blade on their asses!!

The family gets away, and kill all the zombies.  Or do they?  One of the main things that made the Goosebumps books interesting is the fact that R.L. Stine had major twist endings.  The realtor who sold the family the house is a zombie as well, and while the family is leaving, he is selling the house to another family.  The family then high-tail it out of Dark Falls.

What douche bags!! Why couldn't they warn the new family? JERKS!!

The endings of these books had a twist ending at the end.  The books themselves were like a roller coaster for kids.  At the end of the ride they were safe (maybe minor psychological damage, but they were okay).  The original book series had 62 books (1992-1997).  R.L. Stine eventually made the Goosebumps Horrorland series, which is still ongoing now, due to the demand for more books.  The guy was writing a book almost every month during the 90s.  I think the man deserves a couple of years to recuperate. The book series has been translated in 35 languages including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, German, Polish, Thai, and many more.  Because of the decline in sales in Goosebumps, Scholastic's (the distributing company) revenue dropped 40%.  That's amazing that the fate of one book series could have impacted an entire corporation.

And we all know the TV series too.  R.L. Stine made sure that his favorite stories were made into episodes first, which included the "Haunted Mask" and "Stay Out of the Basement."  The TV show was mediocre, but it still has its nostalgic value.  That is why I am making a TOP 5 BEST Goosebumps episodes review.  You want to know what they are, well you'll have to wait for the review (so I can figure them out myself).  Just kidding!  Thanks guys.

Enjoy this awesome theme song that introduced every episode!!

Almost 1,000 Page Views + Reviews

Hey everybody,

I am happy to say that I have almost 1,000 page views on here.  I am very happy that there are people out there who actually read what I write on here.  It feels so good to see those numbers.  For a treat I am going to get my butt into gear and make a video review.  I don't know if I will be able to get a review out this week, but I will try to get one out.  It'll either be "Tentacolino" or a series of episodes of my Top 5 favorite Goosebumps episodes (maybe I'll save that for Halloween, I'm not sure at this time).  It'll mostly likely be the Goosebumps series thing.  You guys don't know how bad "Tentacolino" is!  IT'S SO BAD!!!  I am really excited that I am reaching that 1000 mark.  Thanks again guys!!

My next blog will list my TOP 5 Goosebumps episode!  Thanks guys!!!

Title Cards for Movie Reviews

Hey guys,

I'm really excited for the next two weeks.  I am going to Odyssey Con in Madison.  I am dressing up as Major Kusanagi from "Ghost in the Shell."  For anime tomorrow, my class in spending the whole day tomorrow watching Neon Genesis Evangelion.  I am so hyped for this.

For the Odyssey Con, this will be my first cosplay and I am so excited for it.

I have a picture that my very talented friend, (THANK YOU MARY), did for my review of Little Mermaid 2.  You all know how much I hate that movie.  Mostly likely she will be doing my title cards for the opening of each review, and I am more than happy to have her on board.  She is a very talented artist and she has an account with DeviantArt if you want to check her out.  I'll see if she can make another title card for my "Tentacolino."

 Her DeviantArt account is http://aeylis.deviantart.com/.

Here is her drawing of one of my first "potential" reviews.  Sorry it's in reverse.

Is anyone willing to help me review "Tentacolino"?!

Hey guys, guess what I will definitely do for my next review!  TENTACOLINO!!!! Dun-Dun-Dun.

Obviously, this will take every ounce of my strength to get through this abomination.   If any of you video reviewers are willing to help me to do a video review of it, I will GLADLY accept your help.  C'mon guys I can't do it alone.  It's just too crappy of a film to do a review on.  At this moment I am watching the movie, and I am crying in agony.  As many of you don't know, this film is the sequel to the widely-hated film "The Legend of the Titanic."  I'm sure that I wrote a previous blog on it, so you can check it out there or you can go to IMDb for a synopsis.  It's dreadful.  However, the sequel is far worse.

Fellow movie reviewers, I am begging for help.  C'mon Cinematic Nutcase, I know you only do movie released in theaters, but can you make an exceptions just this once.  The Patchwork Nerd, I need your creativity to get through this heinous film.  Elena, with your quick funny responses, please help me!!  ANYONE?  PLEASE HELP!!!

This "movie" can burn in HELL for eternity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update:

Like I said before I have started watching the movie, and I have to say that I HATE THIS MOVIE!!  I HATE WITH EVERY OUNCE OF MY BEING!!  IT'S HORRENDOUS!!  IT'S WORSE THAN "NEVER CRY WEREWOLF."  IT'S WORSE THAN "THE LEGEND OF THE TITANIC."  I HATE THIS MOVIE!!!

Here's a preview of the notes that I typed up while watching the first 15 minutes of this thing.

e.    3:31 – Creepy laugh from the husband; That’s a face Chucky would make
f.      3:42 – What incredibly bad voice acting.  I would think they got a robot to do that.  [Do this in a robotic voice]
g.    Villain’s name is Razorteeth.  That’s almost as bad as Dr. Cat’s Meow [Gigantor reference]
h.    3:58 – Yeah, making fun of people with speech impediments is funny
                                               i.     Oh god, the villain’s song is worse than the rapping dog [Maybe I can make a rap battle between the shark and the dog]
                                             ii.     What is going on?

a.    Wow, I can totally tell that something is wrong with the way you’re smiling
b.    Scarface, Razor teeth – WHO CAME UP WITH THESE NAMES?!
c.     The cheap underwater sound effect is overshadowing the speaking parts
                                               i.     The Little Mermaid never had this problem
d.    2:36 – SHOW DON’T TELL!!!
e.    3:00 – Did the villain just bitch slap his lackey
f.      3:17 – He has to go brush his teeth?!
                                               i.     Maybe I can do a montage or stupid villains
ii.     Reference of Scar from Lion King saying “I’m surrounded by idiots”
g.    3:45 – Why do we need to see a scene where the villain is flossing his teeth
h.    Why does a shark have a telegram system
i.      Baron Vandertilt?
                                               i.     HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THE VILLAIN FROM THE FIRST FILM! EXCEPT WITH RED HAIR!
j.      What? Oddie? What happened to the first octopus?
                                               i.     How does he know they’re alive by just looking at them through the glass?
k.     6:03 – What was up with that KILL BILL vision scope thing?
l.      6:31 – What you’re doing is useless!  Yeah like being in this DAMN movie!!!
m.  6:40 – Wait, why do they need the entire Atlantean army for this?

o.    7:40 – [Add scene where Raven from the Teen Titans says “Is this the part where I’m suppose to be intimidated”]
p.    Does every lackey in this movie have a speech impediment.  8:50 – A breathing apparatus with a spray can?  [Add scene of Neverending Story 2 where the boy wishes for a spray can]

Why isn't Wonder Girl on Young Justice?!

Hey guys!  It's been a long four weeks since we seen each other.  Midterms have been bombarding me these past few weeks.  So lets go ahead and rant about something in the media.

I have been addicted to the television show called "Young Justice" that comes on Cartoon Network.  It's about a group of potential heroes who one day hope to become part of the Justice League.  The main characters of the Young Justice group contain Aqualad (he's black and the leader, Hooray!!), Superboy, Robin (the Richard 'Dick' Grayson version, not Tim Drake), Miss Martian, Artemis, Kid Flash, and Zatanna.  The show itself isn't all that great.  It's SUPER FREAKING AWESOME!!! This is probably one of the greatest superhero TV show that I have ever seen (beside "Batman: The Animated Series").  The story is great, and the animation is top notch.  One of the animators, Philip Bourassa, won an Emmy Award in 2011 for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

But what I wanted to talk about here is the fact that Wonder Girl is not in the series.  This really pisses me off!  Wonder Girl is one of my all time favorite comic book character (besides Raven from the Teen Titans).  Wonder Girl is such an awesome character, and she is pivotal in the Young Justice and Teen Titans comics.  So what went wrong here?!

Apparently, there was trouble with the licensing for Wonder Girl, so the writers were unable to include her in the beginning of the series.  However, now the creators announced earlier this year that there were no more problems with the copyrights of Wonder Girl.  YEEESSSS!!!

I am so excited right now!  I really hope that they include her in season 2 (now that season one is almost over).  If they don't have her in the next season, I will go ape shit crazy!  You hear that writers!  Put Wonder Girl on the goddamn show!  Please?

I wonder which version of Wonder Girl will the writers use.  Will they use Donna Troy or Cassandra Sandsmark?  I would really like the writers to use Cassandra Sandsmark.  They could have her adore Wonder Woman so much that she dresses like her (even using a black wig), and soon they discover that she is Cassandra Sandsmark (and that she is really blonde).  I really want them to use Cassandra in this version.  I know that some of the members of the team are from the older version of the comics, but they've changed so much other stuff that using Cassandra wouldn't make much of a difference now.  PLEASE USE CASSANDRA!

To show my love of Wonder Girl (DC Comics) here is some background information on her.

Wonder Girl is a super heroine who is named Cassandra "Cassie" Elizabeth Sandsmark.  She is the daughter of Zeus and archaeologist, Helena Sandsmark.  She heavily idolized Wonder Woman, and she stole magical artifacts so that she could be a super hero.  Upon finding out that her father is Zeus, Cassie begs Zeus for her own powers.  Zeus fulfills her wish, but knowing how his previous children behaved with their powers, he gave her mother the power to temporarily remove them with a single touch.  Helena rarely (if even ever) used this power.  However, Cassie is soon able to draw from her own power (being a demi-goddess), and she is even more powerful than she was ever.  Cassie is considered to be an "Olympian Powerhouse."  It is debatable if Helena can even take away Cassie's powers now that she is not drawing her power from Zeus.

Her primary powers are superhuman strength (she can lift an excess of 100 tons), flight, superhuman speed, agility, and superhuman durability.  Apparently now (look at the picture above), she can create force fields.  Instead of a Lasso of Truth like Wonder Woman, Cassie has a Lasso of Lighting which can channel Zeus's lightening.  Oh yeah, she is a bad ass.  She's even best friends with Kara Zor-El (Super Girl).  What I am interested to see in the "Young Justice" cartoon is how they are going to present Cassie as a potential girlfriend to SuperBoy.  In the comics, SuperBoy and Cassie are in very much in love.  At one point in the comic, they have sex with each other (before SuperBoy's famous death).  Honestly,  I really don't like M'gann in the show.  She's too much a goody-two-shoes.  I just want Cassie to be the "BITCH" and break them up.  SuperBoy and Wonder Girl for life!!

Disney Sequels OMG!!

Hey everybody,

Just trying to make up for the three weeks that I have been gone.  I have some news for you all.  Remember my rant about the Little Mermaid 2 (LM2).  Well let me give the my history with the movie.  You see, I loved the first film.  I loved the aquatic environment, the fluid animation, and the some of the main characters.  As I stated before I did not like Ariel's personality (see previous blogs for why not).  But Ursula was so freaking awesome, and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is still one of the best villain songs ever.

The first time I ever saw the movie was with my sister when I was about six years old, and when I heard there was going to be a sequel, I was so excited.  I remember watching the trailer, and my first thoughts were that the animation seemed a bit choppy.  I didn't care.  I kept thinking about what new plot they were going to come up with?  Who was going to be the main villain?  Would the villain have a kickass song like Ursula?  I remember my mom took me to Toys R Us, and I held the film in my hands.  I loved the "idea" of the film so much that my aunt bought the LM2 Melody Doll (which is now one of the most rare dolls in existence; seriously, the doll is like over $500 now).  I remember rushing home to watch it, and when I finished watching it I was completely DISAPPOINTED.

You can read my rant about it in the previous blog.  The reason why I am posting this is to sympathize with all those kids who remember the films from the Disney Renaissance, and the fact that that they were happy to see the sequels (until they watched them).

The only "good" (and I say this rarely) Disney sequel that I can remember is "Lion King 2: Simba's Pride."  Ok, I know it's flawed, but it has a consistent story, good music, fluid animation (for the most part), and good voice acting.  I personally thought that Neve Campbell was the perfect choice to voice Kiara.  She has this soft, innocent voice that conveys the awkwardness and naiveness of the character.  For LM2, I did NOT like Tara Strong (then Tara Chendroff) as the voice of Melody.  Her voice was just way too high and annoying.  Don't get me wrong,  I love Tara Strong.  My favorite Tara Strong character is Raven from Teen Titans.  She's awesome, but this role was not meant for her.

And yes I do own both of these films, but if I had to choose I would totally incinerate LM2 into ashes.  I really do like Lion King 2.  I will not do a review on it.  You all can watch the Cinematic Nutcase's review of it on YouTube or Blip.tv.

Thank for reading.

I'm the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I rant about it, because no one else will.

Movie Reviews

Hey guys,

I am sorry for not posting a blog in a while.  Three midterms in one week will do that to a girl.  Well as of today I don't know what will be my next review.  I thought about doing "Barney's Great Adventure", but now I am not so sure.  I have a incomprehensible fear of that film.  :(

Any suggestions guys on what I should review?  Oh, I'm still trying to get the "Never Cry Werewolf" review from my friend.

I think that I will have to review "Little Mermaid 2."  Since it was my rant about it that started this blog.  I hope some of you like my Top 5 and "Ratatoing" review.  I still getting use to doing video reviews and so far I have only done voice over ones.  I guess that fine for now.  I only hope that I can improve on it as time goes on.  I don't have the expectation that I will ever get on ThatGuyWithThe Glasses anytime soon, but I can only wish that someday I can.

Updates:  Well, I really don't have any so far.  Still trying to get through that list of movies that I posted a while back.  Thanks for reading guys, and I sorry that I haven't written in like three weeks.  I'll try harder to keep up with the blogs.  "Try" being the operative word here!  ;)

A movie called Tentacolino...WTF!

As many of you know, there is an animated Titanic movie trilogy out there.  When I saw the first one, I never even imagined that they would have the balls to write another one.  Once again, the human race proved me wrong in what they will shamelessly do for money.  The last one called "Tentacolino", is utter and complete S-H-I-T!  That's all it is.  I can't say anything else!  You know what that means.  VIDEO REVIEW TIME!  I know that I have to do this now.  Well, first I have to work on the Ratatoing review this weekend, so expect an animated Titanic movie marathon.  I think that it will have to wait to March though (because I'll have to write a script).  Now that I got all my things in order, I think that I will do it.  I am petrified to do it though.  But it must be done!  I hope my brain doesn't explode from the shear hate that I have for these movies.  God, I wonder if it will be as bad as "Never Cry Werewolf".  Oh, I shudder at the thought of that.  I am going to have to collaborate with my friend in Chicago in order to write the script.   This should be fun, NOT!

Pray for me people!!

Animated Titanic movies:
1)  The Animated Titanic Movie
2)  The Legend of the Titanic
3)  Tentacolino

Oh, I also have my sights on reviewing "Barney's Great Adventure" next week!  Oh boy!

Hi everyone,

I think that I will being to translate my blogs in French.  When I wrote my blog about SOPA/PIPA in french, I had to read some books for my French class that day, and I could not stop myself.  That day, I was speaking in french and think in French too. It's just a thought.  It is possible that I may write my blogs in this way.  I don't know if I'll do it.  Tell me your opinions on this here.  Thanks a lot.

Deviant Art and Life Message

Hey Guys,

I just signed up with Deviant Art.  I am very excited, because I uploaded two pictures that I drew a couple of months ago.  I still not sure what kind of things will draw, but I think that it will be a little bit of everything.

This weekend, I think that I'll finally get my things together and do a voice over review of Ratatoing this weekend.  I already have a script, and I would just have to alter the video parts to voice over.  I really liked doing the Top 5 Princess review, and I think that I will do one every couple of months.

A lot of my friends from school have been asking me why I decided to do these video reviews.  I would like to say that like most internet reviewer I was inspired by the Angry Video Game Nerd and the Nostalgia Critic.  I really liked that they came up with so many creative ideas on their reviews, and they spark this revolution of internet reviewing.  I remember during my junior year in high school I came across another internet reviewer called the Nostalgic Nutcase (currently known as the Cinematic Nutcase), and I saw how well he did his reviews.  He didn't need green screen effects.  All he had were good observations of the film, a good script for the review, and a very charismatic personality.   I really was inspired by him and others like him.  I enjoy analyzing films, and I like to see if I can say something about films that no one has done.

While thinking about a "Top 5" list, I couldn't think of something that was not done already.  Everyone has done a "Top #" list of TV shows, Disney movies, worst Disney Sequels, Disney Princesses, etc.  I finally just came up with an idea to do the "Top 5 Disney and Non-Disney Princess Who Deserve an 'I want more' song."  The point that I am trying to make is that, I enjoyed the process of trying to figure out what I wanted to review.  It's such an accelerating process that really challenges your mind.  I love it!

I know it's weird that I am doing this.  I am majoring in Animal Sciences and French.  In no way are these majors even related to film.  But you know what, I enjoy doing it.  That's the message I want to get out there.  All you people in high school, I hope that you know that it's better to do something you enjoy that's weird, than torturing yourself by not doing anything just to be cool.  Even if you are an adult, you can still follow this message.  Do what you like to do (that's not illegal).  I am glad that I had this attitude in high school (and I have it now).

I am weird, and I am proud to say that.  Do what you like to do!!!  Don't stop doing it because someone says it's weird or stupid.  I love going to comic book store.  I just bought the two "Charmed" comics that came out (I totally suggest that you guys check it out).  I also bought a copy of "Kiki's Delivery Service" (I love Hayao Miyazaki).  I am just saying be yourself, and in the end you will be very happy.  High school is just a phase in your life, and when you get to college you won't remember any of those people you hated.  Trust me.

ENJOY LIFE!!

Thanks guys!

Finally A Review is Up!!!

Hey guys,

I am not sure whether I should do voice-over reviews or actual video reviews.  I just feel that doing voice-over reviews is less time consuming for me, and I can actually get them on YouTube and Blip.tv faster.  For now, I'll just stick to voice-over commentaries on reviews.  When I have more free time, I will do video reviews.  I really enjoy doing them, but at this time I just can't do it.  I hope that I didn't disappoint anyone.

I am sorry I haven't written a blog on here in like a month, but my school schedule has been a little crazy.  However, I have good news.  FINALLY, I have a review up.  My "Top 5 Disney and Non-Disney Princesses Who Deserve an 'I want more' Song" is being uploaded to YouTube at this very moment.  I am very proud of myself.  The "Never Cry Werewolf" review is being finalized right now as well, and I will put the link on here as soon as it is uploaded (probably within the next week).  Thank you all who read my blog, and I thank you for your patience.  I hope that you all my like it.  I worked really hard on it.  Thank you.

Check it out below!

Also check it out on Blip.tv

En anglais:  I finished filming the Never Cry Werewolf review with my friend, and we hope that you all will like it.  FINALLY!! Though due to technical difficulties, I was unable to edit the review on my computer. So the video will not be on my YouTube or Blip.tv account as of now.  My friend will post it on her YouTube account, and I will gladly post the link to the video as soon as we finish editing it.  As soon as I can get the video from her, I will put up on my Blip.tv account.  I want to see if YouTube will block it first before I do anything.

Partir là-bas."

Update on La Boum Review and SOPA/PIPA

Okay so apparently YouTube has taken down my video review of "La Boum" again, and I am just too tired to try to go against it.  If you want to look at the review, you can click on the link right below.  And please help people like me who blog and make video reviews in the fight against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA).  These bills can shut down sites such as Google, Facebook, Tumblr, Wikipedia, That Guy With the Glasses, and so on and so forth just because they may find the material on there to be copyright infringement.   Please tell Congress that they are complete assholes and idiots for even trying to pass bills like these.  LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!

I am filming the "Never Cry Werewolf" Review tomorrow.  Wish me luck.  I will probably have time to put together the Princess list video as well (fingers crossed).

Twilight Rip-Off Movie Updates

Hey Everybody,

I will going back to college in one more week.  Haha, it sucks for the rest of you who had to start school this week (it's payback for those of you who didn't have a final the day before Christmas Eve like me).  Anyway, all I have been doing is setting up my Yola website which I hope to finish this weekend.  My Disney Princess video was delayed, because I forgot my USB cord for my camera (which totally sucked) at my dorm.  It will most likely be all voice over, because I just don't have the time to film all the footage over again.  I have been very busy with my friend who is studying film in Chicago.  We just finished the script for our review of "Never Cry Werewolf."  Trust me you'll have to see our review in order for you to completely understand how shitty this movie is.  This movie is so uncomfortable, degrading, atrocious...I can't say anymore because I want to save all of our comments for the review.

I really don't have much going on beside things that deal with my blogs, video reviews, and website.  I guess I can go into detail with stuff from behind the scenes.  The only reason I found this movie was because I was looking at the filmography of Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert on "Vampire Diaries." The show itself is pretty good to say the least.

I know! This is coming from a girl who believes that there should a "Burn all Twilight books/movies" national holiday!

The characters and story is interesting.  I actually wish that "Twilight" was like "Vampire Diaries".  This show should have been the "wet dream" that teenage girls have at night. Anyway, I saw that she starred in this movie.  I just looked at the synopsis, and it had "SHIT" written all over it.  I watched the first three minutes of this wretched piece of crap, and I literally started to have a seizure on the floor.  This movie is a total piece of C-R-A-P!!

Aah, take in the crappiness!
Just take it all in.
>:(

I will do a review of it, so that you all won't have to watch the whole movie.  Again, I will not write a complete review of it here, because I have to show you how crappy it is.  Just writing about it will not give you all the many reasons I have of not watching it ever again.  DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!

I'm the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I rant about it, because no one else will!  >:(
