Mission Impossible 4 Review

I went to see Mission Impossible 4 on Monday, and I really enjoyed it.  The acting was excellent, and I liked the fact the movie concentrated on the team itself.  I am glad that this film finally realized that there is no "Tom" in TEAM! (Cyrus, Spill.com)  This film did not focus on what a hero Ethan Hunt is, but it showed how strong and dedicated the team was in this film.

The IMF team is blamed for the bombing at the Kremlin, and they are disavowed by the U.S. government.  They have to figure out who framed them, and they have to stop a nuclear war from breaking out.

Well, what are the good things? Of course, I have to mention the fact that the team is the main focus in the film.  This team is great. We have the stereotypical computer nerd, the hot, tough chick, the leader, and a agent with a dark past.  I thought that it would not work, but it does.  There are the many funny moments in the film.  I loved the part when Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg are trying to hide behind a computer generated hologram and Pegg's head gets in the way of the camera.  SO FUNNY!  The comedy in between the suspense worked very well. I really loved that they had a car chase in a sandstorm.  That was AWESOME! The drama in the movie made the impossible seem possible.  The scene where Tom Cruise is hanging on the building was filled with so much suspense, it seemed so real, and it engulfed the audience.

Well, what are the bad things?  It was difficult to tell who the villain was.  First, it's a French assassin, then it's a Russian brute, and then it's a Russian government official.  Some of the scenes did feel rushed at times. I did not like the beginning credits.  They felt out of place.  In my opinion, they should have been placed at the end of the film.  They included scenes from the entire film, and I thought that some of scenes in the beginning credits could have spoiled the film for some people.

I won't give away the end.  NO SPOILERS HERE!  :)

Other than those few complaints, the film was very entertaining.  I loved every single moment.  That is what a movie should be.  It can have fights and big budget special effects, but the film must be entertaining at the same time.  And this film does it very well.  I will definitely buy this film on DVD when it comes out.  I definitely suggest that people go see this movie.  It gets an "A-" from me.  GO SEE IT.

Whether the movie is good or bad, I'm the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I rant about it, because no one else will.

New Updates

I hope that everyone had a Happy Holidays this past week.  I have been busy editing my Disney Princess Video Review.  I had to film it at school and I am editing the footage right now.  Christmas for me was okay.  I spent it celebrating my grandpa's birthday, and it was fun seeing my family after a semester of college.  So far I got mostly A's in my classes.  This is amazing for me.  I am so happy that I have survived my first semester of college.

I have been catching up on sleep that I missed out on from studying for finals.  I am still mad that I had an exam the day before Christmas Eve.  What kind of crap is that?  Anyway, I was happy to just take in the scent of my bed.  It's so comfy, and I am happy to eating my dad's food.  YUMMY!  I am still making changes to the format of my website.  I will probably be done by the end of next week.  I am hoping that I will be able to post my videos on the Yola website, BlogSpot, YouTube, Tumblr, and Blip.tv.  I have high hopes for movie reviewers like myself and others on the Internet.

For my month long Winter Break, I will be doing video reviews with a friend who is majoring in film here in my hometown.  We will be filming the reviews together.  For the month of January, it will be called, "Twilight Rip-Off Month."  I have two films that I will do.  They are "Never Cry Werewolf" and "Blood Red Moon." I am thinking about doing "Vampires Suck", but I am still not sure if I can get it.  Let me know if you all have any other suggestions.  I think I'll probably do "Vampegeddon" too (still thinking about it as well). Thanks everyone!  Happy Holidays to those who are still celebrating.

Finally Good News

Hey guys!  I have some good news to tell you.  YouTube disable the block on my "La Boum" review.  You can go and watch the video on YouTube or blip.tv, if you would like.  Thank you for everyone who reads these posts.  I enjoy writing every post on this blog.

As I said in the previous blog, I will start filming the "Top 5" list tomorrow.  Since I have much between today and my French final on Friday, I may even do the "Ratatoing" review as well.  We won't keep our hopes up for that until Christmas Break.  Thanks everyone!

The "La Boum" review is in French.  Sorry to those who don't  speak French. This was for my French class.  The other reviews will be in English.  This is my first attempt at a movie review with my friends, so please cut us some slack.  The bloopers are in English.  :)

Bad News Guys :(

Hello everyone!  I have not had time to write in the last two weeks because of finals.  Okay, I have good news and bad news.  The good news is that I plan to do a "Top 5" list this month on Disney and Non-Disney princesses who deserve to have a "I Want More" song.  I have already written the script, and I plan to film it tomorrow and Tuesday.  It should only take two days to film at most.  Okay, the bad news that I lost my video review for the Christmas carol review.  I cannot find it on my computer, and I am so mad right now! I have searched high and low for it, and it has just disappeared.  I am sorry for this.  I have to keep telling myself that there is always next year, and fortunately, I still have the script.  Sorry guys.  I feel so bad that I lost it!  AARRGGHH!

Anyways, I will film the Top 5 review tomorrow, and January (during Christmas Break) is when I will redo the Ratatoing review.  If you guys have any suggestions on movies I should review please let me know.  ARGGH!  I can't get over that I lost the video.  Sorry again guys.

I have been taking finals for college, and they're going okay.  I love the fact that I can go to Pandora, listen to Christmas music (Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, etc.), and study at the same time.  I do feel drained, but luckily, the only final that I have left is French.  However, that final is this Friday.  >:(

Who the hell decided to have a final on December 23rd?  Who the hell made a final exam the day before Christmas Eve?  Someone of us do have to travel home. Just idiots!  I am still in the process on creating my website with Yola.  So if you don't see anything on the site, that's because I am still making drafts of the design and figuring out what I will post on it.

Thank you everyone who reads my blogs, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays.  In the words on the Angry Video Game Nerd, if that does not satisfy you then "Happy Shut the Fuck Up!"

New Website

Hello everyone!  I decided to check out the website yola.com.  I created a website with them, and it is called http://movierantreviewer.yolasite.com/.  Check it out if you would like to.  The script for my Christmas special is underway.  However, I found that it is going through so many changes.  I think that I going to do a Christmas Carol theme review.  The three movies that I am doing will be like the ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.  There will be changes to the names of these "ghosts".  It's underway and I am so happy to be doing this.  It will be a continuation themed review.

Updates

Man I haven't written a blog in a while.  Sorry guys, I have just been bombarded with so much work.  I currently getting ready for finals now.  I had three midterms and two big paper due.  Anyways, I just wanted to bring you all some updates.  The "Ratatoing" review had to be postponed for the reason that I have listed above.  What I am going to do instead is set up a month long Christmas movie review-a-thon.  What I am going to do is called "The Movie Rant Review's Three Weeks of Christmas."  The first week of December will be "Ratatoing", the second week will be "The Little Mermaid 2", and the third week will be a review on "Jospeh: King of Dreams".  Okay I promise to do this.  No more postponing!

I know this is late, but let me tell you how my Thanksgiving Break was.  Coming back home was fun at first until I got the flu.  My family and I went to Black Friday (it's not worth going to at all!!).  In the store I started feeling sick and had to go the bathroom.  The lines were packed, and I had to knock down an old woman to get in a stall (sorry old woman). I threw up unfortunately.  I know that's gross so I'll spare you the those details.  While I was on the bathroom floor dying, my mother (who has a terrible case of mysophobia!) (I love her though) was yelling at me to not touch the toilet seat while I was throwing up.  Now picture this situation.  You are sick, throwing up, dehydrated, and about to faint.  Your mother is yelling at you to not touch the toilet seat while you're throwing.  You'd be hugging that porcelain throne like it was gold.  Then the next day, my throat was hurting.  This week from Sunday to  Tuesday, I was running a fever, having headaches, coughing my lungs up, and dying.  I'm better now, but that was one hell of a Thanksgiving Break.  I could not even eat the Thanksgiving meal!  :(

Anyways, I am back in school and happy it's Friday.  If anyone starts singing that "abomination of musical notes" song, I will shoot them down!

If you guys have any suggestions please feel free to leave comments.  Thanks everybody.

Concept Art for the song "Hellfire"

Hey guys,

I found a video on YouTube that had the concept art for the song "Hellfire" in the Disney film "The Hunback of Notre Dame."  The artwork is amazing, and they didn't change that much in the film.  It's scary and awesome.  Enjoy (I suggest that you skip to 0:35).

My Birthday Today!

Hey guys,

My birthday was technically yesterday (November 9), and my Facebook page has been overflowing with birthday wishes from my friends.  I would like to say thank you to everybody who wished me a Happy Birthday!  So today I went out with a good friend to our favorite restaurant in Madison.  We went to an Indian restaurant called Chautaura.  It serves food from India, Nepal, and Thai.  It was amazing.  I always get their salmon dish, and I don't know what my friend got, but it looked so good.  I went to Cold Stone for their Chocolate Devotion ice cream.  I know that I'm trying to watch what I eat, so I got the smallest size.  HAPPY! :(  I think that I am going to get pizza this weekend with an another friend.

Okay, back to news on the Movie Rant Reviewer.  As I have said before, I have put up my review of the French film, "La Boum." I definitely know that I will do a review for Ratatooing for the next review.  While hiding all sharp objects in the room (where I was doing the review in) (I did this so I wouldn't kill myself), I wrote down notes while watching the movie.  I won't rant too much here, because I want to save most of it for the video.

This movie is an abomination to mankind.  No, not mankind. It is an abomination to the entire fucking universe.  This movie was not just emotionally painfully.  It was PHYSICALLY painful.  My fellow blogger Jacob Beck warned me, but I did not listen.  This movie is just a rip off of the very well developed film by Pixar called "Ratatouille".  The story is just insane and stupid.  The animation is atrocious and inconsistent.   I can definitely see where they messed up the animation and forgot to correct it.  I rest my case.  I will probably start writing the script next weekend.  I'll film the review during the Thanksgiving Break.  Please give me any suggestions that you all have.  Thank you for reading.

If anyone is interested, I'll need an editor to correct the scripts and the blogs for me (only if you have time and are reliable).

La Boum Review

Hey guys, I am in the process of uploading my review for the French film, "La Boum."  Like I said in the previous blog, this review is entirely in French.  They are no subtitles in this review at all.  Sorry.  If I do have time later on, I will add them.  My next review will probably be Ratatoing.  I still need to get my VHS tape of "The Little Mermaid 2" from home.  Thanks again for reading my blog (for those of you who do).  I hope you enjoy my first "real" video review.

P.S. - This movie is made with two of my friends and we do announce ourselves as the Movie Rant Reviewers in French.  I'm still not sure if it will just be me as the Movie Rant Reviewer or all of us.  Only time will tell!

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iOXuLKluCA

UPDATE:
Sorry guys, but YouTube is being lame.  So I decided that I would put it up on blip.tv.  I am in the process (right) of getting a blip.tv account.  I will be uploading my videos on both YouTube and Blip.tv.  Thanks again.

Updates So Far

Okay.  I hope that everybody had a terrific Halloween.  To say the truth, this Halloween was the first one that I have ever celebrated.  I dressed up as a cheerleader.  A good friend lent me her cheer leading outfit from her high school.  Halloween at college is totally different in comparison.  Although there is more freedom, there are also more things out there that are dangerous.  But you guys didn't come here to listen to me preach, so I'll stop there.  I mostly just spent it in my dorm watching my collection of horror movies (i.e. Ginger Snaps, Interview with the Vampire, The Craft, 1408, Supernatural: Season 5, and Fright Night (the version from the 80's)).

I made the review for the Little Mermaid 2, but I just wasn't satisfied with it.  I'm sorry guys, but I will have to do it over.  I want to be happy with my production before I put it out there.  I have a list of movies that I want to review (listed below) as the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I hope that you guys can give me a list of movies I should rant about.  I will post my review of a French film soon (that I had to do for class).  WARNING:  The video review will be in French.  I will have to talk entirely in French with my classmates.  I will try to eventually add subtitles.  Thanks for reading.

List of Movies to Review:
1. Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea
2. Thumbelina (Don Bluth's version)
3. Blood Red Moon
4. Man's Best Friend
5. Ginger Snaps/Ginger Snaps Back
6. The Breakfast Club/Sixteen Candles/Fright Night (1980's month)
7. All 3 of the Animated Titanic Movies
8. Ratatoing
(Maybe all of the Twilight movies)  Don't hold your breath on this one.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

For this blog, I am giving a brief review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.  This is a superb movie.  I went with a couple of friends to the University of Wisconsin - Madison movie theater.  The film was completely free.  The audience was amazing too.  I actually saw people with tissue boxes in their laps.

Anyways, the film starts off with Voldemort getting the Elder Wand.  Harry, Ron, and Hermoine, after escapping the clutches of Bellatrix Lestrange, go off the Gringotts and Hogwarts to find the remaining horocruxes.  I won't spoil the movie for those who have not seen it yet.  I usually rant about movies that are bad or have already come out on DVD.   This movie is great, but I do have some complaints.

But first, I feel that Neville finally gets his time to shine, and Molly Weasley kicks ass in this film.  Harry's connection to Voldermort is finally revealed in great detail.  Alan Rickman does an amazing job in his role as Severus Snape.

However, I do feel that there were so awkward moments in the film, and Voldemort was sometimes very goofy in some of the scenes.  I am not a huge fan of Harry's and Ginny's relationship.  But all in all, the film was great, and I am glad that they added some awkward moments in there so that the audience can have a break from the depressing tone of the film.  This film gets a "A-" from me.  I still have to make a grading system for my video reviews.  Don't worry that "Little Mermaid 2" review is on its way.  My theme song will probably be "Hip to be Square" by Huey Lewis and the News.  I love that song.  Go buy this film on DVD when it hits stores on November 11, 2011!

(11/11/2011)

Pictures are from when I went to the Harry Potter amusement park at Universal Studios Orlando.  It kicked ass!!  :)

Disney Sequels: Little Mermaid 2

As many of you know (especially the kids from the 90's), we grew up will some of Disney's greatest films.  Films such as "Beauty and the Beast", "The Little Mermaid", "Lion King", and "Aladdin" were amazing, and we couldn't help but be in awe with such masterpieces.  When Disney announced that they were going to make sequels to these beloved classics, we were all freaking happy.  We were going to see our favorite characters again.  Oh boy, were we the fools.  These "direct-to-video" sequels were buckets of trash that came thirty feet under the bowels of hell.

Today I'm going to focus on the "direct-to-video" sequel to the Little Mermaid titled, "The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea."  I admit I loved the first movie, but the only reason why I liked it was because of Ursula.  To be honest, I was not a big Ariel fan.  I found Ariel to kind of be selfish throughout most of the film.  She didn't learn anything, and I felt that she did not grow as a character at all.  She's a freaking princess from an underwater kingdom, and she undergoes the stereotypical "I want more" syndrome that most Disney princesses have.   She wants to be human, and since her "daddy" told her no, she just sells her soul to a sea witch to be with a guy she doesn't even know.  That's right girls just sell your soul to the freaking devil the next time your dad tells you that you can't get the Ipad 3.

Anyways, back to the sequel.  This movie is just a rehash of the original story.  There's no originality whatsoever.  Ariel has a daughter named Melody (named after Ariel's beautiful voice).  Yeah, Ariel took you all day to come up with that name huh (kind of conceited)?  Ursula's sister, Morgana, wants revenge against Ariel and Eric for killing Ursula.  And yes people, she is voiced by Par Caroll (the same person who voiced Ursula).  Sad just sad.

They try to pass this film off as a musical, but it only has I think four songs (if you can call them that).  They are horrible by the way.  Most of the music has the same instrumentation with different words.  The animation is inconsistent most of the time.  Sometimes it's good, and most of the time the characters just look stupid.

Melody grows up not knowing her mermaid heritage (because her mother wants to keep her safe from Morgana, bite me!).  To keep her safe, Ariel comes up with the bright idea to big a freaking huge wall in front of the castle.  Really, she couldn't have just moved to another part of the world?!  How did the fishermen, who make their living by fishing, not have an uproar?!

Ok back to this crap, Melody has a love for the sea.  Who wrote this story?!  I can't even write about this film anymore.  It's not a new story if you're just going to retell the exact same story!!  So what if they switch the roles around, this is crap! Melody wants to be a mermaid, just like Ariel wanted to be human.  They both sell their soul or trust (whatever) to get what they want.  No, I must go on.

In the end Morgana's defeated and all is well.  Like hell it is!!  My sanity is not well.  I feel embarrassed to say that I watched this movie when I was eight.  Ten years later, this film is so stupid and terrible it just should not have even been made.

I'm the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I rant about it, because no one else will.  :(

(I do not own this picture.)
