Vlog #1 Breaking Dawn Part 2

Man this movie sucked balls!  Oh my God!

This vlog was done on Sunday so excuse me if I missed anything that you thought should have been included.  I went to see it last Saturday.  Let's just say it's an experience I will never forget.

Oh, and my birthday was last Friday.  I turned 19 years old!!  This is my second birthday that I've celebrated on this blog.  I feel so young since I just turned 19 and I'm in my sophomore year of college. Everyone else is turning 20, and sometimes I just feel so left out.  I just have to get over it, you know.

Anyway, I happy that I got to see another year, and I hope there will be more.  I was able to vent my frustrations on this movie, and by god it sucked!

Hope you enjoy my first vlog!  Here goes nothing!

Long Time No See!

Hey guys,

It's been a very long time since I have written an entry on here.  And there are of course the people out there who said that I wouldn't get a review out by my own deadline.  And unfortunately, they were right about that.  Let me explain...

For all of my fellow bloggers out there who are in college, you know how busy we can get.  Midterms are hell, and papers are abominations from hell.  I have had so many things going on.  So I have come to a realization.  I cannot do video reviews at this moment in time.  I have so many things on my plate right now that I am not going to lie to you all and say that I will end up doing them.  It's not fair to you all and it is certainly not fair to myself.  I guess you're asking me, "So what exactly can you do Media Rant Reviewer?"  Here is my proposal.  I will still continue to regularly review things on my blog (written).  However, I can do vlogs as well.  I find that vlogs are so much easier to do.  I feel that I am not restricted by trying to fit all my opinions in a video review.  I can be free and say what I want.  This is what I would like to do most of all.

So from now on, I will do vlogs.  I have decided whether they will be weekly or bi-weekly.  I think I can do weekly no problem.  I am still working on my website.  It's almost done, and it will be used to host my YouTube vlogs.  The vlogs will also go up on here and Blip.tv.  I feel a little better about this.  This plan should work!  (I hope.)

One Year Anniversary

Wow, I can't believe that it has been one year since I started writing this blog.  My first blog was written October 2, 2011.  My rant about "The Little Mermaid 2," is always fun to reminiscence about.  I still can't freaking stand that movie!

I am very excited to know that I lasted a whole year on Blogger.  Thank you to everyone who had the patience to read through my blog.  I hope that I can have many more with you guys.  Now back to blogging!

So I have been very busy with college, and I have not had a lot of time to work on my new site on Wix.  I am getting there though.  I have been able to keep up with the many Wiki pages that I am a part of.  I am so addicted to the Young Justice Wikia page.  Here's the link if you guys want to check it out.  It is really cool.
http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Young_Justice_Wiki

I have been able to take a course at school, about video game reviewing.  When I heard that there was a class about reviewing video games, I signed up right away.  I am learning some much from this class.  Not only is that class helping me with critiquing video games, it's helping me to be able to critique films and TV shows a lot better.  I feel like this class  its making me a better internet reviewer.

I have been able to make a final schedule of reviews that I am going to do.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to film the "Never Cry Werewolf" last month.  So I have decided to make it apart of my Halloween special.  I will have a couple of reviews for the month of October. Yeah, I know what you're saying. "You've been telling us that you would be doing a  review forever."  I am serious!  Haha, kinda.  No I'm just kidding.  I am serious this time.  I am going to do this.

October:
Never Cry Werewolf
Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes

November:
Skydancers TV show (I quiver at the thought of this show)

December:
I'll leave that up to you guys!
For December, I'll see if anyone will be willing respond to a poll.  I'll have a list of films that you guys can choose from. starting mid-November.  (If anyone wants to vote.)  I just thought it would give some interaction between us bloggers.  Tell me what you guys think about it.  The choices that will be put up will depend on if I can get the films or TV show.

February:
Pride and Prejudice (guilty pleasure guys!)

Thanks again for a wonderful year and I hope I'll have many more.  One more thing before I go.  YOUNG JUSTICE IS BACK!! OH YEAH BABY!!  :)

New Show and Young Justice Excitement

Hey Guys!  Long time no see.  It been a month since I have typed something up here on the blog.  School has bombarded with stuff, so I haven't been able to get on here in a while.  Luckily, I wrote a script for a movie review already (before school started).  So I will probably film the review this weekend or next (most likely next weekend).  I'm excited to do this, because it has been such a hassle for me to film these reviews.  However, that what makes it so much fun.  It's the challenge of making the review that I love the most.  I will use iMovie for the first reveiw (sorry guys I can't afford Final Cut Pro), but later ones will be done with Final Cut Express (it's a little more within the realms of my budget).  I'm excited to start using that.  Here's a "more"recent list of reviews that I'll do.

September: "Never Cry Werewolf"
October ("Halloween"): Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes
November:  Thumbelina (Don Bluth)
December: The Nutcracker Prince

February: Pride and Prejudice (hehe)

In other news, YOUNG JUSTICE IS BACK!  That's right people "Young Justice" is back September 29 9am central time.  I am so happy to see my favorite superhero in the world, Wonder Girl (I love you to Wonder Woman).  I'm also trying to see if I can make it to Anime Milwaukee.  If any of you guys are in the Midwest, I say come to Anime Milwaukee.  It's February 15th-17th.  I believe it's Wisconsin's largest anime convention.  The website link is right here: http://www.animemilwaukee.com/.  It's also where the Nostalgia Critic did his 200th episode special of the film, "Ponyo."  That's pretty awesome.  Anyway, that's it for now.

Upcoming Reviews and MUCH MORE!

Hey Guys,

It's been a long three weeks, and I have missed checking up on my blog.  I have been extremely busy with trying to set some personal affairs in order that I have not had time to write on here.  I miss checking up on the blogs that I follow and seeing what others are writing.  I was very happy to see that the Patchwork Nerd has already received 2,000 page views.  Congrats to you girl!  I wish you 2,000 more.  I have been catching up on some reading (for pleasure), and I have started reading 1984, by George Orwell.  This suspense thriller is about a negative utopia where the citizens are under constant surveillance by who else, Big Brother.  Well, I don't need to tell you what the book is about, because it's one of the most famous literary works in history.  My opinion of the book:  READ IT!  I am only on page 38 right now, but it's already captivating and intriguing in every way.

Alright, back to business!  I also have time to think about an annual schedule for reviews.  I will most likely do a monthly thing, but I will try for a biweekly show.  I need time to write and get others who want to be in the reviews with me (not to mention editing the thing).  For the month of September, I don't have a theme to use, so I'll just pick one or two films or TV shows.  Here is a preliminary schedule that I have planned out:

September 2012:
1) Barney's Great Adventure
2)Tentacolino (if I can squeeze it in)

October 2012: Halloween Theme
1) Never Cry Werewolf (yes, I'm redoing it)
2) Top 5 Goosebumps Episodes
3) Are You Afraid of the Dark? (only if I can do it and if not there's always next year)

November 2012:
1) So Weird
2) As Told By Ginger

December 2012: of course, Christmas Theme
1) The Nutcracker Prince

If you have any suggestions please let me know!  And yes,  I will actually make the reviews this time.  Here's to being the Media Rant Reviewer!  I'm so used to the Movie Rant Reviewer.  I had to backspace so many times to correct myself, hehe!  Here's a picture that I just drew today!  I hope that you guys like it!

NEW BLOG TITLE

Hey guys,

As I wrote in my Wonder Woman blog, I decided to change my name from the Movie Rant Reviewer to the Media Rant Reviewer.  I'm just trying to be more original on here.  The rest of the information is listed at the bottom the Wonder Woman blog.  Those who follow me can still read the blog, but I couldn't changed the url.  The blog would appear with the new website name, so I had to keep it the same.

However, my blip.tv url is http://blip.tv/mediarantreviewer.

My upcoming website url is now http://aliciamovierantblogg.wix.com/amediarantreviewer#!home/mainPage.

I also changed my tagline too, but everything else is still the same though, so there's no worries.

Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham

I am totally nerding out today!  So after a ten year search, I finally got a copy of the comic book "Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham."  This comic book is a collection of a four-part series featuring more than 15 prominent DC characters, including my favorite, Wonder Girl.  It was the first time that I ever laid eyes on her, and I fell in love with the character ever since.  The first time that I read the book was when I was eight years old at summer camp.  I would read it every day, because I loved it that much.  The comic was written in the early 2000's by Phil Jimenez, J.M. DeMatteis, and Andy Lanning.  Unfortunately, I was not able to keep the comic, because it belonged to camp.  I was so furious!

Ten years later, I now hold it in my hands!  YEESSS!!

It's about the children of the god of War, Ares, taking over the bodies of the most lethal criminals in Arkham Asylum.  The god of terror, Demios, takes over the body of the Joker (The Terror King of Gotham).  The goddess of discord, Eris, possesses Poison Ivy (who can control any man, except Batman, with just a whoosh of her phermones), and the god of fear, Phobos, possesses Scarecrow (Master of Fear in Gotham).  These gods desire to make Gotham into the new kingdom for Ares.

"Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham" is such an interesting comic book, and I suggest anyone who loves Wonder Woman and Batman to check it out.  I think that the comic itself is a great insight into what are the true morals of these characters.  The story questions what is the true reason why we as humans seek religion.  Is it for faith or is it our desire to fill a void in our soul?  Do we all seek to be part of a divine entity?  The story is not pushing the reader into choosing a religion, but really it is trying to make us question what is our own reason for putting our faith into certain things.

***SPOILER***

Phobos uses Batman faith in fear to possess him, and Phobos becomes more powerful than ever.  Fear is the tool that Batman uses to fight crime in Gotham.  It is this tool, that helps him avenge the public; it's to inflict the same fear and pain onto the criminals that they inflict on innocent people.  However, Wonder Woman comes to rescue him.  She helps him see that he is a compassionate person who doesn't needs to put his faith in completely fear.  It is hope that trumps fear.  It's the one thing that Batman and her have.  The hope that one day crime and inequality will end.

I know that this ending sounds cheesy, but it was nice to see that side of Batman.  Batman does not believe in gods.  Let's clarify this fact.  From what I read, I believe that he does not believe in the power that these gods say that have.  He questions the fact that how could a god allow his parents to be murdered right in front of him.  How could a god allow people like the Joker and Scarecrow to continue to terrorize and kill innocent people? I like seeing heroes like Batman have weaknesses.  It makes him more realistic, and it makes the reader be able to relate to him more.  That what makes him a far more better superhero than Superman will ever be in my opinion.   I love this comic, and everything that is associated with it.  If you are lucky enough to find it, buy it at once.

UPDATE:  I am deciding to change my name from Movie Rant Reviewer to Media Rant Reviewer.  I really don't want to just stick to reviewing movies, and I feel that media can be related to movies, TV shows, comic books, games, books, etc.  So that's that!  Thanks again for reading.  I'm going to have to change my tagline too (it's too Nostalgia Critic-like).  Hehe!
